About Me
Hello My name is Megan Ritz, I am 18 years old and currently a freshman at Oakland University. I was previously Senior Captain of the Varsity Dance Team and Social Events Coordinator of the Lake Shore chapter of HOSA. I have been a member of the National Honor Society since January of 2016 and a National Student Leadership Conference Alumni since August 2016.
My goal in life is to become a Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon. I am heading toward this goal by taking AP Biology and my second year of Medical Careers in high school and focusing on my major of Biomedical Diagnostics and Therapeutic Sciences in college. I enjoy the medical field very much. I take every opportunity I can to learn skills I will need for my future. A weird skill I have is I am very good at suturing. I learned for the first time this summer and I was told I have a natural talent for it.
I was recently employed at Toys-R-Us as a cashier/floor person and before that I was a crew worker at McDonalds.. As a cashier/floor person I help customers find what they need, answer phone calls, checking out customers, grilling, working to unload trucks, and cleaning the store. Toys-R-Us and McDonalds alike taught me how to be quick, accurate, and friendly. It has given me great teamwork and leadership skills that I was lacking before. It has given me opportunities to work hard and to meet new people.

Personal Statement
In my life I will always take initiative, be confident, and stay a fighter. I will go through my life proving time and time again that I deserve to be where I am and I will go through my life taking the initiative to try new things and to learn new things. I will be confident in myself and the work I do, always making sure I am at my best, and last, I will continue to fight for what I deserve everyday until my last. I will only accept what is best for me and nothing less, I will fight for what I believe in, and fight for those who do not have a voice.
Why do I do what I do?
In my future I would really like to pursue a health career. I would like to pursue one because I feel that I am pretty good at the skills I have mastered. I believe that I have worked hard in my high school career to learn what I needed too. I have taken a Medical I and Medical II class which has given me the chance to become certified by the NCHSE and by OSHA. I have applied and accepted to an Honors College where I will be studying Biomedical Diagnostics and Therapeutic Services. I also spent this year shadowing in the hospital. I have learned so many skills that will help me succeed in my future. I have really had the opportunity to learn time management and work ethics.
